He asks Serena if she’d be willing to video chat with him and she agrees and says goodbye.Īs Fred walks out, Tuello and some men handcuff him and put him in the back of a police van. When June gets home, June, Rita, Moira and Luke discuss Fred and what fate may befall him in Gilead. Tuello thought most of the women on the list were dead, but says he’ll take the offer to his boss. Lawrence eventually offers up 22 captured Marthas who worked for the resistance in exchange for Fred Waterford. ![]() June finds Tuello and arranges an in-person meeting with Commander Lawrence in an abandoned diner just over the border in Gilead. She tells Luke she wants to put Fred on the Wall. Luke drives her home, trying to cheer up June and tempt her to go out for a drink but she says she’s tired and wants to go home. June says she misses Offred too - her strength in particular. Fred still seems to have a soft spot for "Offred", and he admits he misses her. June sits down to have a drink with them and they talk about Gilead. June dismisses the security guard and they talk. Later on, June shows up at the door to Fred’s room. “Emily, I really want to let go of him,” she says of Fred, upset at how she can’t just focus on her family, because “a good mother would be able to let go.” When Emily and Oliver visit, they joke about Gilead. Mark agrees to ask his superiors and he’s surprised that Serena is going to live with Fred as husband and wife. Moira wants June to travel to Geneva to testify in person and try to change the court’s mind, but June gently refuses.Īt the detention center, Serena has some demands for Tuello - a house, security and an expedited court ruling. Moira is upset to learn that they’re sending Fred to Geneva for his immunity hearing. Later, at the house, Luke tries to pump up June. Mark Tuello reminds her that Waterford probably will be granted immunity for his cooperation. In present-day, June gives her statement to the court, voicing her thoughts on Fred’s potential release, on video camera. June says a handmaid has to make her commander feel like he’s her “whole world: your sun, your moon and all your stars.” In a flashback, Fred and June dance at Jezebel's. June draws on all her resources and relationships, risking everything to ensure her own kind of justice. ![]()
